Spider-Man is not one of Earth's mightiest heroes, no matter how much Andrew Garfield wants him to be. Though both are Marvel movies, "The Avengers" exists at the House of Ideas' home-base with Disney, while Spidey spins his own "Amazing" adventures over at Sony. Still, that's not to say that Peter Parker won't have a few crossovers of his own to look forward to in the coming years.

Hollywood.com spoke with "Amazing Spider-Man" producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach about whether or not their upcoming "Venom" film would exist within the same universe as this summer's Spidey reboot. Though the producers stayed vague, their answer holds great promise for fans of big-screen superhero crossovers.

"What I'm trying to say to you without giving anything away is hopefully all these worlds will live together in peace someday," said Tolmach.

Whether that means a Spider-Man/Venom crossover or something even greater remains to be seen, but it's cool to see that Sony is considering how to apply Marvel's massively successful "Avengers" approach to their own characters. Before all of that, though, there must be a "Venom" movie, and the producers had much to say on that subject.

"It's an Eddie Brock story," said Arad. "We want to be as close to the comics as possible. Especially in Eddie Brock's story. But again, pseudo-science is becoming science. All these tidbits about webs, artificial webs, is a huge industry now. Spiderwebs have unique qualities that will be huge for communications, fibers, and so forth. So we have taken the approach that we want to make the huge amazing movie about Eddie."
