The search for Spider-Man's new love interest carries on. Most recent reports had pegged "Zombieland" star Emma Stone and "Alice in Wonderland" newcomer Mia Wasikowska as possible contenders for Peter Parker's lady love, and now three new actresses are entering the ring.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has added three new names to the "Spider-Man" romance mix: "Glee" star Dianna Agron, "Wasted on the Young" actress Georgina Haig and briefly seen "Moon" player Dominique McElligott.

But wait, there's more — beyond looking at possible new leading ladies, there's also "early unconfirmed talk" of Philip Seymour Hoffman having a role to play in the reboot as... Venom?!

It should be noted that all of this information is grounded in rumor territory — especially Hoffman as Venom. Spider-Man's symbiotic nemesis was the subject of the most recent entry in the franchise, played there by Topher Grace. While it's not entirely out of the question that Venom could pose a threat in the rebooted "Spider-Man" series, it's surprising that he would show up again this soon, especially with an against type actor like Hoffman in the role.

More likely are the rumors surrounding the film's love interests. As has been speculated and reported on previously, it seems that "Spider-Man" will feature not one but two female figures central to Peter Parker's life: Gwen Stacy, his ill-fated first love, and Mary Jane Watson, his eventual wife (until Mephisto wiped their nuptials from the pages of history).

Deadline describes the five aforementioned actresses — Stone, Wasikowska, McElligott, Haig and Agron — as the front runners for the female leads. Who do you think has the edge? Let us know what you think in the comments section and on Twitter!
